Wirth range of equipment includes nearly all types of heavy-duty drilling and boring equipment for vertical, horizontal and inclined applications. Wirth Tunnel and Shaft Boring Equipment Division manufactures large diameter shaft boring machines, raise boring machines and tunnel boring machines. Wirth also manufacture road headers, which are used for tunnelling in all kinds of rock strata of compressive strengths upto 120 mpa. Wirth offers a wide range of road headers having cutting power from 140 kW upto 400 kW. The machines employ a boom-mounted rotary cutting head in association with a gathering arm loader and armoured chain conveyor. They are designed to operate on the 'centre line' from which they are capable of cutting and loading their maximum profiles, which vary from 4.0 m to 9.0 m in width and from 2.3 m to 7.6 m in height. These machines are not only renowned for their reliability and low operating cost, but also display great versatility over a wide range of applications.
